Sage Days 25 - An Invitation

What is 'Sage Days'?
Sage Days is a confluence of present and prospective SAGE Users and
Developers. It is an opportunity to come together to share ideas,
brainstorm and hack on Sage.

Sage Days 25 is the 25th version of Sage Days, and is being organized in
Mumbai, India. In order to cater to an Indian audience and scenario, this
version has been tweaked slightly. Sage Days 25 has beginner level
tutorials, in addition to the usual talks and sprints, to help new users get
started with Sage and help promote the use of Sage in India.

What is Sage?
Sage is a free, open-source mathematics software system licensed under the
GPL. It combines the power of numerous existing open-source packages into a
common Python-based interface. It's mission is to create a "viable free open
source alternative to Magma, Maple, Mathematica and Matlab".

Sage has tools for a broad range of mathematical areas like Linear Algebra,
Calculus, Symbolic Math, Plotting, Rings & Groups, Graph Theory, Number
Theory and Cryptography. Essentially, "it can do anything from mapping a
12-dimensional object to calculating rainfall patterns under global warming"
- as Science Daily puts it . Eager to get started? Start here. [#1]

Apart from being feature rich, it's usability is one of it's greatest
strengths. Sage Notebook, a web-interface for all the math you'll ever want
to do, is really the killer feature! As the Sage Marketing page says, "The
SAGE GUI surely works on your computer box, because it just runs in

Why should you attend?
Sage Days 25 is being attended by the creator and lead developer of Sage,
Prof. William Stein. It will also be attended by other developers of Sage.
This would be a great opportunity to meet and interact with them!

The conference will be attended by a plethora of enthusiastic people from
all over the country who use Sage or are interested in doing so. The
conference will also see the presence of many mathematicians interested in
software. Who knows, you may run into someone you'd want to collaborate
with, for your future work!

This event will be a great learning experience, if you are even remotely
interested in math and software for it!

Gems of Wisdom : Power of Your Own Thoughts

It is important to know that there is a relationship between your thinking and the way you feel. It’s important to realize that you are constantly thinking. Don’t be fooled into believing that you are already aware of this fact! Think, for a moment, about your breathing. Until this moment, when you are reading this sentence, you had certainly lost sight of the fact that you were doing it. The truth is, unless you are out of breath, you simply forget that it’s occurring.

Thinking works in the same way. Because you’re always doing it, it’s easy to forget that it’s happening, and it becomes invisible to you. Unlike breathing, however, forgetting that you are thinking can cause some serious problems in your life, such as unhappiness, anger, inner conflicts, and stress. The reason this is true is that your thinking will always come back to you as a feeling.

Try getting angry without first having angry thoughts! Okay, now try feeling stressed out without first having stressful thoughts – or jealous without thoughts of jealousy. You can’t do it – it’s impossible. The truth is, in order to experience a feeling; you must first have a thought that produces that feeling.

Unhappiness doesn’t and can’t exist on its own. Unhappiness is the feeling that accompanies negative thinking about your life. In the absence of that thinking, the unhappiness, or stress, or jealousy, can’t exist. There is nothing to hold your negative feelings in place other than your own thinking. The next time you’re feeling upset, notice your thinking – it will be negative.

Remind yourself that it’s your thinking that is negative, not your life. This simple awareness will be the first step in putting you back on the path toward happiness. It takes practice, but you can get to the point where you treat your negative thoughts in much the same way you would treat flies at a picnic: You shoo them away and get on with your day.

The first "Scientific Computing with Python" conference in India (http://scipy.in) will be held from December 12th to 17th, 2009 at theTechnopark in Trivandrum, Kerala, India (http://www.technopark.org/).

The workshop will take place at Christ Nagar International School, Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram, between 09:30-17:30 hours each day.
The workshop seeks to bring together practitioners from Government Departments, as well as from small and medium enterprises across the country. The primary aim of this workshop is to demonstrate the importance of creating accessible web sites and to educate the developers of government and private web sites on how to incorporate accessibility features into new as well as existing web sites.
The training comprises both theory-oriented and practical sessions.The trainers are specialists in various aspects of web accessibility. The main focus will be on WCAG 2.0 guidelines. The workshop is for persons already involved in developing web sites with good knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, etc. In addition to training web developers in accessibility, the workshop will also serve as a platform for capacity building by training potential accessibility trainers.

Hi NullsAs you are aware the initial work for Clubhack2009 has started and CFP is open now.Looking at our old association, this year I have decided to pull the core volunteers from NULL ONLY.
There would be 2 levels of volunteer this year1. core group who organize the main activities which require technical know-how. Like setting up the venue, wireless network, coordination with venue incharge, pulling up contest ideas & if possible some live hacking games too.
2. non-core group which do not require the geek skills, something like registration desk, food coordination, travel & accommodation etc
BTW, null members can vouch in non-core group also.
The main event in is Pune and most probably on 5th & 6th of December, so this mail is mainly targeted towards Pune members but others can also support in whichever manner they can

Last Dec MoDemo was one of the best events of MobileMonday Bangalore.Happy to be part of that.Yesterday event(Advertising on the Mobile Web) was not upto the mark.Venue place is not good. Lot of disturbance and noice. Could nt able to hear the voice of the speaker.
It is happy to ask for sponsors.Please dont make it completely commercialize.It will lose the sense.

First he(Saravana) started with the basics of WCF and showed a demo.After installing 3.0 extensions for wcf we will get this template : Windows Service Library template
Important things to know before working in WCF are : Endpoints,contracts, bindings.7 bindings are given and we can create our own custom bindings.

Feedback and expectations of audience:Saravana has done a good job in starting the session with basics and going into depth.He showed lot of interest in explaining the things with real time examples and code.
Lot of people expected a spoon feeding session. So without preparation they came for the session. So they cant able to understand.I have some bit exposure to WCF.I could able to understand only 40% what speaker has told.It is not the
mistake of the speaker.I thought of that whatever I learned in WCF is more than enough.Actually we are waiting for a 4 hr (more than) session(in a single day) from Saravana.He only can
explains better. We are requesting him to take one more session (like our Biztalk training) which covers little basics
with more advanced topics.After leaving the session I spoke with some of the guys for knowing about the view.They felt happy but they are looking for a full day demo on WCF covering more stuff on WCF.
My last note is : Saravana has done a good job by telling the extension points in WCF.
